Planning your wedding and choosing your
suppliers will take quite a lot of your time and effort and the last thing you
want is to worry about things going wrong.

The average wedding costs £18,000, which is a
lot of money by anyone’s standards, so it makes sense to cover yourself if
things, which are out of your control, do not work out.
Firstly, check your current household policies and speak with your broker (also
enquire about travel insurance for your honey moon). Keep in mind that
specialist wedding insurance will cover a whole host of things that your
household insurance policy doesn't so it is worth comparing the two before you
make a decision.
There are various policies on the market starting from as little as £25 with
equally varying cover so you will need to do some homework. The same with any insurance
policy, it will be too late if problems have already arisen so, for peace of
mind it best to take out insurance as soon as you start incurring costs and
paying deposits.
Generally speaking, if you pay with your credit card you're entitled to
compensation from the credit card provider on anything you've bought for
between £100 and £30,000. So in lots of cases there's little point in paying
extra for a wedding insurance policy.
However, insurance is particularly important if you opt to have your wedding in
a marquee, your own home or in premises not usually hired out for functions as
you will need public liability insurance.
